About Nomadic & Denotified Tribes

India has a population of more than 125 Crore (1.25 Billion). Out of which, nearly 10.7 percent belongs to nomadic and denotified tribes.

Nomadic and de-notified tribes are a group of communities who travel from place to place for their livelihood. They do various work for their livelihood and belongs to various castes & tribes. These are likes salt traders, fortune-tellers, conjurers, ayurvedic healers, jugglers, acrobats, story tellers, snake charmers, animal doctors, tattooists, future teller, grindstone makers, blacksmith makers or basket-makers. These people are very poor and uneducated.

These people don’t stay at once place and travel from one place to another in search of livelihood. Indian Government is trying to involve these people into main stream of India. But due to poverty & lack of education, they are still behind in society as compared to other communities.

Many of them are not able to earn minimum Rs. 100 for their daily expenses. Due to the lack of education and their financial problem, their children also face same issues like their parents. According to one survey, only 15% of children complete their education till 10th standard.

Nomadic and denotified tribes people have multiple traditional skill but still they don’t have value in existing system. Due to this, these people will flow into bad activitie[1]s. These tribes have various problems like illiteracy, unemployment, various bad habit like smoking, alcoholism, consuming drugs.
